Write two pages for discussion forum - Article Example As a result, leadership in nursing also requires a separate set of leadership traits and qualities which must include all those skills and basic activities which take into account the issues relating to the field of nursing. This discussion has been carried out for many decades. Gentry et al., (2012) have contended that if people are born leaders, in that case, it will be very challenging to prove the validity of such claims because there are numerous styles of leadership and each has its own distinctive features or traits. Based on assertion, it can be deduced that leadership can be developed by closely working on those areas of human activity which are normally carried out by leaders. For example, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (2013) has clearly highlighted a set of characteristics highly essential for clinical nurse leaders and they include: determining patient-care delivery and practices and this encompasses collaboration and caring for the patients and critical evaluation of expected outcomes relating to patients; searching out the gaps between expected and actual results and taking essential measures for diminishing the effects of gaps in patient care practices; risk analysis relatin g to patients and their medical and psychological condition; managing and ensuring team leadership along with intra-department and inter-department cooperation ; determining and developing evidence-based practices; using information technology and systems for improving the performance of clinical facilities. In other words, clinical leadership can be developed with a comprehensive clinical education framework. For instance, Curtis et al., (2011) explain that nursing leadership courses should be commenced at the undergraduate level in which nursing leadership, leaders in nursing both theoretical and practical approaches, frameworks and parameters must be taught to the new students entering in the field of

Fundamentals of Macroeconomics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Fundamentals of Macroeconomics - Essay Example GDP is mainly applied in determining the stability of a countryââ¬â¢s economy. Calculations of gross domestic product are commonly done using the expenditure method, which adds total consumption, investment, government spending and net exports (Dolan, 2010). Real gross domestic product refers to gross domestic product evaluated based on the prevailing market prices in a given year. Real GDP can also be regarded as inflation corrected gross domestic product. Real GDP has the capability to indicate changes in the price level with a high accuracy compared to nominal gross domestic product (Dolan, 2010). This refers to the gross domestic product figure that has not received any adjustments on inflation. It is also the value of services as well as goods produced in a given country after the final stage of production. Increased purchase of groceries by households is a clear indicator of their improved economic status. This fact enhances growth of existing businesses as well as the emergence of new investments. In such a situation, the government benefits from increased tax collections obtained from value added tax and taxation from investments (Dolan, 2010). This refers to the reduction of the number of people under employment in a given country. The implications of undertaking such a step include negative impacts on the government, households, and businesses. Massive layoff of employees means that a large number of people within a country will have a reduced purchasing power. In such situations, household living standards will come down; businesses will close down due to low purchases, and governmentââ¬â¢s revenue collection will go down. Economically stable citizens within a country comprise a key pillar of a countryââ¬â¢s economy (Dolan, 2010). Revenues generated from taxation are the principal financers of the government budget. Therefore, a decrease in taxes implies that the government will strain in meeting its expenditures. On the other

The U.S. Constitution Promotes Intercultural Communication Essay
The U.S. Constitution Promotes Intercultural Communication - Essay Example The constitution ââ¬Ëencourages the American people to become one people. The legislators have been developing policies that seek to bring about intercultural communication. The policies should serve to institute a healthy form of communication that appreciates cultural diversity. However, despite the efforts, an analysis of the current situation indicates that more needs to be done. For the American community to thrive peacefully and in unity, intercultural communication is essential (Castillo-Ayometzi 1). Intercultural communication refers to a form of conveying messages in an ethno-relative manner. In the past years defined by the worst forms of racism, each race has had an ethno-centric communication. The whites communicate in ways that make blacks feel intimidated. Christians pass messages that imply that their religion overrides Islam. This perspective of communication centers on creating an overemphasis of oneââ¬â¢s culture. It involves defending it unnecessarily too muc h while rejecting to appreciate the culture of other people. Inter- cultural communication is necessary in the society. An intercultural communication is the type of communication will foster an understanding between the people and the existing differences will reduce. Intercultural communication is necessary not only for internal unity but also affects the relationship with others countries whose beliefs, policies and religion differ (Jandt 99). The multiracial population in America makes it more tasking for intercultural communication to exist (Castillo-Ayometzi 1). The country has a dark history of slavery against the blacks and continued racism and white superiority. Slavery and racism has brought about a divide in the American society. Racism has caused the blacks and minority races in America in the past. To bridge the gap racism has caused, an intercultural communication is a step towards bringing unity to the nation. Some institution offer intercultural communication as a co urse for the young generation to learn to appreciate the existence of variety. In the past, an ethnocentric perspective has existed in the minds of the whites. All races differ in various aspects in behavior, religion, values, and norms. Since these people live in the same country, it is worthwhile for an ethno-relative form of communication. Communication is an aspect whose importance society should not underestimate (Jandt 91). It determines the value of our interactions with others. Although English is the official American language, it is not the only language in use by the different cultures. The constitution in this case seeks to establish a universal language that people should use regarding official matters. This was a step towards building intercultural communication. This requires all people to use as a means of communication in official business (jandt 91). This policy served to foster a communication that is beyond ethnicity and culture. Having an official language preve nts situations in which people in offices use a language that other people do not understand. However, the minority groups that cannot speak fluent English faced negative effects. They could not express themselves clearly and this created a barrier for them. They received services without satisfaction. In other cases, they failed to access essential basic services. This shows that legislators should do more to foster the development of a lasting effective intercultural com
Critical analysis Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Critical analysis - Essay Example Nevertheless, the real issue at hand is the motive behind taking the image. Clearly, there is a voyeuristic element with the way the images are being represented through the lens. It can be observed how the acts are conforming to the intended obscenity, the poor lighting, and the predating conditions before Yoshiyukiââ¬â¢s encounter with the couples. No one could honestly testify the real intent behind the scopophilia but judging from a criticââ¬â¢s point of view, there seems to be no cooperation between Yoshiyuki and the group of people. In the context of photography, while Yoshiyuki did not anticipate the happenstance, the drive that sticks him with the ongoing public demonstration could be related to personal photography, wherein he intended to seize the image for personal use (Wells 56); ââ¬Å"here is a person making choices, not a stationary camera recording what passes before it (ââ¬Å"Gefter, Sex in the Park, and Its Sneaky Spectatorsâ⬠). The photo also suggests o f his nature as a photographer: a voyeur. Although, he vehemently disagreed that he is one. He asserts that ââ¬Å"My intention was to capture what happened in the parks, so I was not a real ââ¬Ëvoyeurââ¬â¢ like themâ⬠(Gefter, ââ¬Å"Sex in the Park, and Its Sneaky Spectatorsâ⬠). ... As a matter of fact, the ââ¬Å"curator of photography at the Museum of Modern Art, agrees that Yoshiyukiââ¬â¢s work falls into a photographic traditionâ⬠(Gefter, ââ¬Å"Sex in the Park, and Its Sneaky Spectatorsâ⬠). In the past and maybe until today, ââ¬Å"aesthetic and subject matter of the photograph was considered as only of secondary importanceâ⬠(49); what is more important is the image itself. Looking at the photo, it is rather conspicuous that no artistic impression was intended; considering the ephemerality of such activity, the motive behind the photo is the image alone ââ¬â an idea that conforms to personal photography ââ¬â in which the practitioner was more concerned of capturing the image rather than understanding its significance. Indeed, obscenity does not entail good standing; hence, this has been discounted in the process, perhaps, due to the voyeuristic purpose of the photograph. As mentioned earlier, it can be argued that obscenity does not entail good standing. If this is so, what was the real motive of the practitioner? Voyeurism and scopophilia can be very subjective oftentimes and so Yoshiyuki, as he proclaimed himself a voyeur, points towards what he can take out of the ââ¬Å"perfectâ⬠encounter; although, the picture expresses manifold significance in the society. The picture somehow signifies the employment of nudity as an indicator of certain types of prejudice in that body is essential to "colonial modes of power, including the processes of representation" (84). The picture relatively depicts a social stratification in the Japanese civilization, in which women are significantly controlled by the men. Photography, in history, took part in the employment of modernist thinking that criticizes ââ¬Å"high and low culturesâ⬠, which are

APPLY THE LEARNING CURVE THEORY Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1
APPLY THE LEARNING CURVE THEORY - Research Paper Example The curve helps an organization to tune it finely from all directions. If an organization has the knowledge of handling the entire process, it can make informed decisions. The simulation describes the opening of a Pizza store by Mario in Palm Springs which was situated I a mall where there was potentiality to succeed and make profits as there was traffic of customers. Mario although faced many challenges of customer dissatisfaction. The dissatisfaction moved to an extent that most customers left the store without purchasing due to waiting for a very long time. What Mario should therefore aim is the retention of the old customers and getting more new consumers of his product. For the goals to be achieved there are changes or alternatives that should be employed by Mario. Mario is required to reduce the time customers use in waiting. The time should be cut down from nine minutes. Mario also have to balance their demand of service and provide appropriate service to the clients. If this can be rectified Marioââ¬â¢s business would be profitable. As Mario has a small business the learning curve can be very profitable and helpful to him. The process they use can adapt concepts of the learning curve in very many ways. The learning curve has been removed from the chronological observation that people who do recurring roles exhibit a development in task performance in many times. The empirical studies of this occurrence give rise to three conclusions based on current practice and theory. The period required to carry out a role diminishes with the repeat of the task. The quantity of development has adequate consistency to let its function as a tool of prediction (Hugh J. R et al, 2012) In the simulation a process data of performance was compiled. There was the choice to change cooks, staff, 4 person and 2 person tables to have to give the maximum service without interfering with the profits. The table above shows how the profit goes up every time
Vik Muniz's Action Photo 1 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Vik Muniz's Action Photo 1 - Essay Example The following is a discussion that seeks to evaluate Vik Munizââ¬â¢s action photo on the use of the edible medium, subject and meaning, socio-cultural context, and general reflections. Question 1 The action piece of art by Vik Muniz enforces the use of chocolate and sugar as the media of painting. As argued for initially, the word action emanates from the practice of art whereby artists spread and splash paint randomly to eventually develop artworks in accordance to their perceptions. The artistââ¬â¢s paintings shows the legendary artist, Jackson Pollock busy painting on a piece of material lying on the floor. The artist uses chocolate syrup, and uses the paint to implement a stylistic painting approach whereby the audience will conceive an attitude of edibility. Therefore, the form taken by Vik Muniz emulates an emotional perception that the painting is as important as most of the delicacies known to the society, for example, chocolate (Respini 45). The work is presentable des pite the use of chocolate and sugar as the media. It contains allure and luster at the edges where the artists initiated change of chocolate medium to sugar. The main linings seem to establish a glittering reddish outline and possibilities are that the paintingââ¬â¢s advantage emanates from the use of little chocolate to more sugar syrup over the wire lining. As the work portrays Pollock busy in the action art, the artist lures all viewers into conception that art is extremely important in our lives just as food and water. Through keen observations, an audience can easily tell of the advantages of varying the glossy chocolate in production of an attractive photo. The photo measures at 60cm by 48cm.The photo displays Pollock as a busy artist and the glossy texture of the observed from the photo might illuminate his passion (Durant 55). Arguably, Muniz photo establishes a series of events whereby the photo looks like a painting, and the use of an edible medium to represent a genera l paint. Question 2 The theme of the art piece of action photo by Muniz is intense and relative to setting an understanding on the importance of artists in the artist. Arguably, Muniz seeks to implement the allure of the abstract expressionism, which Americans declined to perceive its importance and sense for a long period. Muniz extensive use of edible media in the artwork remains significant and misinterpretations since an artistic meaning underlies therein (Van 67). Mainly, Muniz drew the original painting and photographed it before it lost its glossy appeal. The photo denotes action as Muniz develops it stylishly to show the struggle that Pollock endured in order to develop his personal expressionism paintings. Arguably, Vikââ¬â¢s action photo seeks to enlighten the audience on the struggle that Pollock survived in order to develophis art through the spontaneous and random splash of paint (Respini 48). Therefore, Muniz used chocolate and sugar as the media of painting to show Pollock in the field of art. With the use of such media, it is evident that Muniz wanted to emphasize on the importance action art that was always Pollockââ¬â¢s art approach in reaching the society embarking to expressionism. However, Muniz is more precise and uniquely presents the painting such that Pollockââ¬â¢s artwork gains the desired appraisal in the society (Van 68). It is through Munizââ¬â¢

Compare Enlightened Despotism with the French Revolution Essay Example for Free
Compare Enlightened Despotism with the French Revolution Essay The Enlightenment, an historical period of the 18th and early 19th centuries influenced actions of absolute rulers. This movement also provided a framework for the French Revolutions. Enlightened despots believed that political change could best come from the ruler. Where as the French Revolution did many things, unleashed new forces, destroy old ideas, offered new promises. Not the Revolution itself, of course, but the people who made it. However, Enlightened despots were encouraged by the philosophers to make good laws to promote human happiness. Despots acted abruptly and desired quicker results. They were impatient with all that stood in the way of their reforms. In addition, they justified their authority on the grounds of usefulness, not divine right? Frederick II (Frederick the Great), the most famous Prussian absolute monarch and a military genius, pursued an aggressive foreign policy. In 1740 he seized from Austria the province of Silesia. His action culminated in a major European conflict, the Seven Years War (1756-1763), in which he was pitted against a powerful Europe. Enlightened monarchs embraced the principles of the Enlightenment, especially its emphasis upon rationality, and applied them to their kingdoms. They tended to allow religious toleration, freedom of speech and the press, and the right to hold private property. Most fostered the arts, sciences, and education. Enlightened Absolutists believe that they had the right to govern by birth. Emperor Joseph II can be said to have fully embraced the Enlightened concept of the social contract. In contrast Catherine II entirely rejected the concept of the social contract while taking up many ideas of the Enlightenment. The French Revolution (1789-1799) was a pivotal period in the history of France and Europe. The Revolution is widely seen as a major turning point in European history-from the age of absolutism, to the age of the citizenry, as the dominant political force. Many interrelated political and socioeconomic factors contributed to the French Revolution. It fell to the ambitions of a rising bourgeoisie, allied with aggrieved peasants, wage earners, and individuals of all classes who had come under the influence of the ideas of the Enlightment. It was and remains a system of ideas that are usually goal- directed. Most ideologies are, therefore, fundamentally political, bright descriptions of the means and methods by which the instruments of revolution, party, or government ought to be used for the purpose of social change. The French Revolution was the first major social revolution, of far greater dimensions and of deeper purpose. Elected to the Committee of Public Safety in July 1793, Maximilien Robespierre (1758-1794) soon came to dominate that group, hence dominate the revolutionary government. He exhibited himself as a ruthless individual, incorruptible, dictatorial, impersonal, and determined to sweep away all who opposed the Revolution. He urged the war on against the monarchical powers of France, and he encouraged the Reign of Terror. The major causes ofà French Revolution include the following: A poor economic situation and an unmanageable national debt were both caused and exacerbated by the burden of a grossly inequitable system of taxation and Frances funding of the American revolution, A resentment of royal absolutism; An aspiration for liberty and republicanism; A resentment of Manorialism (seigneurialism) by peasants, wage-earners, and to a lesser extent, the bourgeoisie; The rise of enlightenment ideals; Food scarcity in the months immediately before the revolution; High unemployment and high bread prices resulting in the inability to purchase food; A resentment of noble privilege and dominance in public life by the ambitious professional classes. In principle and by legislation, French revolution made the individual citizen the center of a new social order. The social order should, therefore, be designed to maximize this freedom, this personal liberty. References Spielvogel Western Civilization Volume II: Since 1500 (2003) p.493, 517. Scott, H.
